| Data Master Overview |
| Data Master is C & K Venture's latest program development
effort. This will be our flagship product tying the individual data bases
of our remaining products together. Our design goals are very simple, any
needed data collection/processing/information ability not covered by our
three other products (4HPlus!, FairPlus!, or AESIS), will be handled by
Data Master. •Data Master is a joint development project with Texas Agricultural Extension Service. We asked our user states who might be interested in sponsoring (read, pay for the development) the new Data Master program and the great state of Texas stepped forward. Once again, thank you Texas! We will be working with their staff to insure the product works just right for Extension. •So what is Data Master? Imagine a data base, spread sheet, mail list system all rolled into one package that understands every other C & K Ventures data files. But imagine a data base that you do not have to know how to set up fields and create data tables. Imagine a mail list system that allows for the instant creation of new mailing lists based on mouse selected values from any of the other programs data files. •Here might be an example. As is all too common these days, let's say your state is looking at another year of drought and you decide that you would like a custom screen/data base/mailing list program to handle this situation. Pop open a "new" screen. Add, by clicking, a field for each piece of information you might want to collect for this project. Type in the name of the field. Click acceptable values for the field input or tell the system to display the acceptable values via a list box. Fill in the list box values. Click and drag your new fields to any place or any order you want on the screen. Want to import any existing data from some other file or program. That's Ok. Start collecting your data in your new "program". You will have mouse click SQL data access (just like in 4HPlus!) for your brand new screen. If you want to know the clients who have operations of a certain size and have not signed up an "awareness" discussion and are willing to help pass on the information just click a few buttons and get a report or mailing labels. (If you defined these kinds of fields and entered data of course). Would you like to have a 4H group event at the local school to discuss the problem with the 4H members? Simply ask the system to link in the 4H member records for the operations above and ask them to help with a "what things are like at our place" discussion and information session. •Data Master is scheduled for release 2nd quarter of 2002 but we will be offering beta versions sooner. This would allow your state to use the system and offer input to improve performance for your state. We will be establishing prices for this product as soon as possible. |
