Web based Item Entry (WIE) is a new add on product that
C & K Ventures will have in place for the 2001 fair season.
FairPlus! now allows for the issuance of valid state fair item numbers
while the various 4H, FFA, and Open Class items are still located in/at
the county fair. You can ask FairPlus! to print an Item Entry
tag that contains a valid state fair item number, the valid state fair
class/lot that the item should be entered into and other necessary information. The
data that supports these state fair item tags printed at the county level
is then transferable to the state fair version of FairPlus!
With this system, when the physical item arrives at state fair, all data
processing is already done and the items are ready for judging. Users
of FairPlus! and it's predecessor's have enjoyed these features for years.
So, what is so special or exciting about the new WIE system? With
WIE, placing an item in state fair is a real time action. The
user will issued the next available state fair item number (the county
will not be restricted to prearranged set of state fair item numbers).
Gone will be the days of maintaining a complete list of valid
and allowable state fair Class/Lot codes. No more worrying
about the modified codes list. With WIE, the user will actually
see and select from the list of state fair class/lot codes, not a local
list of what the county thinks is available. The user will
see real time the counts of items already in the class/lot at the state
fair. (If the item would be a valid entry for two different class/lots,
why not place the item in the class/lot with the fewest entries?)
WIE will eliminate the need for developing and sending to state fair a
data file that contains all of the county to state fair data. As
things are done real time via WIE, everything the state fair needs will
already be there.
WIE is an Add-On to the FairPlus! fair processing system. At
this time, C & K Ventures projects a cost of four to eight thousand
(as the project progresses, we will be able to adjust this figure to a
more accurate amount). To be frank, this will be our largest
web based program undertaking and we just do not accurately know how much
time will go into this effort. This of course will be a one
time fee and the implementation is state wide. If one county has
or wants the feature, everyone gets it (including state fair of course).
This produce is scheduled for release in time for the 2001
fair season.
We will need a very large lead time on this product, so if your state
is interested, please contact C & K Ventures and schedule early!
